Last week Marcel Swart went on a research visit to Belgrade (Serbia), to visit the group of dr. Maja Gruden-Pavlovic.
Dr. Swart gave a seminar on “A new family of hybrid functionals”, which was heavily popular: the room was crowded and people had to sit at tables. Apart from the successful collaboration with dr. Gruden’s group (just this week a joint paper appeared in the special edition of Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. on “Theory meets Spectroscopy”), the visit helped strengthening the collaboration with Prof. Katarina Andelkovic‘s group (a joint paper in Inorg. Chim. Acta was accepted during the visit).
During the weekend a visit to the Nikola Tesla museum was made, with a nice exhibition of the power of magnetism (through a tantalising experiment!!), and of course a visit to Novak, the restaurant of the most famous Serbian Novak Djokovic.
It was a very fruitful and successful visit, with more research papers to come as result of it.
